After a week in Costa Rica, I'm back in Minnesota for another weekend at Gull Lake. Costa Rica was great. We sat on the beautiful beaches and next to the pretty pools. We went on a sailboat and went fishing and snorkeling We rode some horses through the forest which wasn't my favorite because I'm a little bit afraid of the big, dumb, animals, but the scenery was pretty good.
I also did some knitting on the trip, though mostly on the plane. This was taken from the balcony or lanai, if you will, of our condo.
It is the second sock of a pair I'm knitting as a gift, so I won't ruin the gift by posting a picture of the finished sock until tomorrow. I hope I can finish the second sock in time, but it's looking a little doubtful. If not, I'll just wrap up the one sock and the second will be forthcoming. Who needs wool socks in August anyway? Even in Minnesota it's not necessary.
While in Minneapolis yesterday, I visited Needlework Unlimited, another fabulous Twin Cities yarn store. It's huge and overwhelming and it was too bad that I only had fifteen minutes to spend there. I will definitely go back there someday. I didn't buy anything but a pair of #2 DPNs for the Koigu socks I plan to start on as soon as I finish the gift socks. I never did find the #2's I needed before my trip. The Michael's in Bloomington, MN has a pretty good yarn selection for a Michael's, but hardly any DPNs. For the gift socks, I've been using Bryspun Bry-Flex needles and I really like them. They're flexible which I like and also not to heavy which is a good thing, especially for socks. I better get to work on that second sock . The birthday party is tonight.

Hiya, Smoke! Guess who finally got a computer that can handle fancy websites such as yours? People of the Internet, buckle up and brace yourself for some drunken comments. Right this minute I happen to be sober, but Lord knows, my drunken status is subject to change on a dime. Um, Courtney? Why is Filner wearing a Shriner hat in that horse picture? Hi Tom! Hi Teddy! Hi Mom! I was just kidding about being drunk all the time...mostly.
