With all of the somewhat secret holiday knitting that's going on, it's hard to find something to write about. I finished this hat for Bob last night. We're going to Minnesota for several days around the holiday, and I thought Bob could use a nice warm hat.
Yarn: Noro Big Kureyon, unknown colorway. I bought this yarn in Kansas City last week and promptly lost the tag. I love Noro. All Noro is good Noro, so the colorway doesn't really matter.
Needles: 20-inch circular Addi Turbo, US 10, and Brittany US 10 DPNs.
Pattern: I more or less made this one up myself, but I'm sure it's nothing new. I cast on 88 stitches (any multiple of 4 will do) and then made a K2, P2 tube for about 11 inches or so. I think I could have started decreasing a little bit earlier. If I were to make this for a person with a smaller noggin, I'd decrease after 10 inches or so. It all depends on how big you want the folded brim to be. After knitting the tube, the decrease rows are as follows:
1- (K2tog, P2) around
2- (K1, P2) around
3- (K1, P2tog) around
4- (K1, P1) around
5- K2tog around
6- Knit
7- K2tog around, thread yarn through remaining stitches, pull it tight, weave in ends, and enjoy!

Nice hat! And you're right about the Noro, it's the pizza of the yarn world.

Oddly enough, I have yet to make a hat. Maybe I'll make this one... Oh -- and the pictures of you two from Sunday are adorable!!

Noro really is the BEST, no matter what colorway! P.s. Ashley already claimed #7, what's your next pick?

Love the hat! I may use the pattern to make my first hat to go with the scarf for my brother!
