I can't believe that February is almost over. It's been a busy and stressful month, and I haven't even gotten my tax stuff in order yet. I started on that project, but I have yet to finish it. I have, on the other hand, managed to finish three fun fur hats for Mini's charity project. I meant to do a fourth hat in lime green, but it didn't happen. The hats I did finish are for kids undergoing cancer treatment. Most people cringe at the idea of knitting with fun fur, but I think the hats are pretty cute. They look like little Muppet heads, and if I were a bald kid, I'd want one for sure. At first the hats were all going to be for one childrens' hospital in Boston, but Mini has received so many hats, that now they're going to go to at least five other hospitals/charities. Knitters are good.
I bought a new knitting book last week. On Thursday, I had two hours to kill between a rehearsal and a gig in the Alamo Heights area, so naturally, I went to the Yarn Barn. I'd heard from the ladies at S'nB, that the Yarn Barn had the new Interweave Sock Book. Amazon won't ship it until April, but the good people at Interweave send their publications to yarn stores in advance which is nice. I like this book a lot. As always, the pictures are great. I don't think I'll actually knit most of the patterns simply because they're too tricky, but I do like to own nice knitting books. When I buy these books, I always remember my 23rd birthday when I was living in Manhattan and my friend, Amanda, gave me three thongs from Victoria's Secret. The card said, "You don't have to wear them, you just have to own them," or something to that effect. I never did wear them. I hate thongs, and anyone who tries to say they're comfortable is either lying or out of her mind. I do like the sentiment though, especially when applied to knitting books.

I like the knitting books-as-frivolous-underwear sentiment. I feel like my Teva Durham book is a thong.
Your muppet hats are great, by the way. I would totally wear that if I were a kid.

Personally, I find knitting books, like thongs, to be strangely comfortable. I recommend wearing two, one on each foot, as a kind of snowshoe apparatus. Which you probably wouldn't need in Big Texas.

I like knitting books. They're inspirational when I want to put a project on needles but have no idea what I want to make. The hats are awesome! They'll put smiles on some faces!
As far as thongs go, let's just say I'm glad boy shorts have come into fashion. I get more fabric than a thong for about the same price.

Thongs are the devils underwear.
