Welcome to Fabulous Etsy Finds, my new blog column. It isn't unlike Eye Candy Friday and Saturday Sky, however I know I can't be counted on to post on a particular topic on a weekly basis, so I'll just write about Etsy gems as I find them. I admit, this idea isn't entirely original. I got the idea from Sock Pron Aija who has been doing Etsy Fridays for awhile now. Her Etsy Friday posts have caused me to make purchases on more than one occasion and as a result, I've been discovering a ton of Etsy gems. I figure that most Etsy sellers won't complain about the free publicity, so I'm going to take it upon myself to report on fabulous Etsy finds as I encounter them. First up is twisted. I came across her site late last night after typing "sock yarn" into the search window.
Patricio Arial Self-Striping Hand-Dyed Sock Yarn from twisted.
Doesn't this yarn look a bit like what Noro sock yarn would look like if they made such a thing? I think so, and that's what made me click on the thumbnail in the first place. This Noroesque yarn may have even caused me to fall of the yarn wagon once again, but I'm trying not to think about it. Before there was yarn and knitting in my life, I had a weakness for shoes and the Gap. A person can buy a lot of sock yarn for the price of a new pair of Danskos or Keens, and I hardly ever even go into the Gap anymore, so I'm going to pretend that I'm saving money and relish the fact that I'm supporting independent fiber artists. Dye on!
