I know that the purpose of my trip is to play a concert and to visit my old colleagues and friends here in Richmond, but what I really can't wait to do is visit my favorite Richmond LYS, The Yarn Lounge. This will be tricky to arrange because we have many rehearsals and there is a holiday weekend involved, but I've penciled the YL in for tomorrow after rehearsal and it looks as though I should have plenty of time to lounge with the yarn. I would also like to make it to one of the many area Ben Franklin Craft stores. We do not have Ben Franklin Crafts in Big Texas and to be perfectly honest, BF Craft stores beat the pants off of both Hobby Lobby and Michaels. I'm hoping to see every color of Lion Brand Sock Ease live, in person, and in one place and if it will happen anywhere, it will be at Ben Franklin Crafts.
I've been modest when it comes to my travel knitting. I brought with me two second socks and the never ending Falling Leaves scarf which I've had on the needles since January. I brought one set of empty needles (sock size) in case I find something that must be cast on right away. I've had a slight twinge in my left wrist for the last few days so I've been knitting less. I finished the knitting but not the sewing of the Baby Surprise Jacket the other day. I maintain that this is one of the most confusing patterns ever, but it's quite fun and addictive and now that I've made one full of mistakes, I can't wait to make another one.
This rumply mess actually turns into a very cute little jacket, but you'll have to wait until I get back to Big Texas to see the FO.
After waking up at 6:00 A.M. with a headache, red swollen eyes and very congested, I determined that I could not spend another night in the smoking room. Even though the mean lady at the front desk told me last night that the hotel was booked, I decided to try one more time. I called downstairs and the 6 A.M. front desk guy was much friendlier and very understanding and he promptly moved me to another room. Why this couldn't be done last night remains a mystery. I was settled in my non-smoking room by 7:00 and my general outlook on this little adventure is much sunnier. I've learned an important lesson which is that when staying in less than stellar hotels, ALWAYS call ahead to ensure non-smoking accomodations.
