Happy Blorthday To Me!

My Blorthday is this week, so I'm giving away yarn in celebration.  A few months ago, Bob walked into the yarn room while I was sorting and reorganizing my sock yarn stash and he asked me how long it would take me to knit all of that yarn.  I told him I wasn't sure, but I thought it would take a very long time.  He said, "Would it take a year?" and I had to admit that it would take something more like a decade for me to knit up all of my sock yarn.

In the last year, I've been a member of three different sock yarn clubs and my business and family related travels have taken me to yarn stores all over the country.  Somewhere along the line, I stopped caring about the fact that I already have a lot of sock yarn and I kept buying it because it's pretty or hard to come by or because I was in a tiny LYS in some out of the way place and I felt like it was my duty to buy at least one skein of something.  Because I have a truly mountainous stash of sock yarn and only two feet, I've chosen four tasty skeins from some of my favorite independent dyers (all of whom are new to me in the last year or so) to give away to you, dear readers, in honor of my third blorthday.

I wanted to do something different this year.  Just leaving a comment is too easy and it's not that interesting.  In my last post, I asked if anyone had any great ideas for my blorthday extravaganza and only one person responded.  Fortunately, Pretty (a.k.a. Amanda who I actually know in real life) was that person and her idea is brilliant.  She suggested that I have people send me a picture of their most loved knitted item from the last year and then I could post them all in a Flickr mosaic.  This is perfect because it gives everyone a chance to show their stuff, it gives me new ideas, and I just love Flickr mosaics.

If you'd like to be entered into a random drawing for the yarns below, please send me a picture via email or post a link in the comments (if you Flickr, Flickr links are great) to a picture of your favorite knit or crocheted item, your favorite yarn or pattern or knitting book or any crafty item.  You can even link to a pattern on Ravelry or elsewhere on the interwebs, or even to your favorite blog post.  I'm not picky, but I will put all of the pictures I receive into a Flickr mosaic.  Since Amanda came up with this plan, she automatically wins one of the prizes which leaves three for the rest of y'all.  Here they are....

Zenstring

Zen String Lotus Toes in Hope 100% superwash merino from the Zen String Winter Yarn Club

Redrocks

Red Rocks Fiber Works Snowmass Sock in No Repeat 5 100% superwash merino

Pagewood

And last but not least, my very favorite new to me yarn of the last year.....

Ravelryyarn

Twisted Fiber Art Duchess  Sport Weight in Ravelry 100% Superwash Merino

Good luck to everyone.  If you choose send me a picture, please send it to yarntootin at yahoo dot com.  I'll take entries until 12 P.M. Central time on July 29th.  Thanks for reading and thanks for playing!

Happy happy B-day to you!!

It was hard choosing just one. I think I would have to choose the Binsenkorbchen socks. It is a great pattern and I enjoyed knitting them.

This is the Ravelry link: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Punkin/binsenkorbchen-socks

This is a great idea! Flickr mosaics are great. My favorite knit this year was my Hexacomb Cardigan. Perfect color, yarn, and pattern.

Happy Blogiversary! Great idea to do a mosaic! I got inspired through your blog to do one (or two or three) too.
My favorite item is my green cardigan. The pattern wasn't too bad (although not easy to fix, I frogged a lot), but the result was worth the pain.

What a great idea! I can't wait to see everyone's favorite!
My most favorite knit of all time is undoubtedly my Yarntini Jaywalkers Scarf: http://www.flickr.com/photos/7526162@N07/1459642605/
Happy Blorthday!

Happy Blorthday!

If I had to pick the project I got the most use out of, it probably would have been my Noro Striped Scarf. But the project from the past year that I love the best is Elsebeth Lavold's Harald sweater. Here's the Ravelry link: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Kendra/harald-pullover. I chose this because it was a 70th birthday present for my father, and was knit with much love.

Will get you to my favorite project completed since this time last year. I am so stoked that I actually won some yarn!!! Can't wait to see your mosaic. happy blorthday Courtney.

What a cool idea! I'm hoping that my best project will be the one I'm trying to finish now, but since that won't be done in time I would say that it's my Embossed Leaves socks. This was the pattern that inspired me to knit socks, the yarn is the sublime Sundara sock yarn and even in the summer's heat, I look forward to the times the air conditioning freezes my toes and I get to put them on.

I love my icarus shawl, and wear it almost every day (it's my office shawl). Here's a photo of it.

My favey thing I made last year has to be Goddess, which you can see here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/55881664@N00/1468418364

(It's, uh, been around the block a few times, as you can see by the visitor count). : )

Happy Blorthday!
My favorite FO is the Latoya Tank by Berroco. It's one of the few things that I have made for myself that I actually wear besides socks.

I'm a new (and slow) knitter. My favorite project this year is my first pair of socks! The most basic of patterns. Not only did I learn a lot, but I've fallen in love with socks!

Happy B Day!

This is my favorite knit item from the last year. It was a gift for my MIL, and I was very nervous because it was my first fair isle project. It came out beautifully! I was so thrilled to discover that fair isle wasn't nearly as scary as I expected.

Happy Blorthday. I just e-mailed a photo of my favorite knitted sweater that I designed. I really love the way it came out.

I designed a bag in several different shades of purple and felted it. Definitely my favorite item done this year. I'll mail you a copy of the photo soon.

Fun contest and happy blorthday.

Great Contest--great prizes--so thanks for giving us the opportunity! I'm linking to my flickR picture right here http://flickr.com/photos/14464677@N00/1352718161/in/set-72157594538412100/.

Happy Blorthday! What a great idea for a giveaway! The link show a water bottle cozy that I made this year. It was fun to design and I loved the variegated cotton yarn.

I haven't done as much knitting this year as I'd like but my fave definitely is these socks:
