I saw the show when it came to Richmond a couple years ago. It was a strange experience, actually. I think we went to the Saturday or Sunday matinee, and there was hardly anyone there so we had seats in the second row, which was a little too close. And in the front row were obviously show-related people like the director and perhaps some understudies, because they whispered and pointed like insiders the entire time, which was distracting. I did like the music, although I think it was too loud for us in the second row (or I'm just a fuddy-duddy, which is highly likely). I didn't expect it to be so sad. I don't remember a lot of details. I do remember wishing that we were sitting in the first balcony (Carpenter Center, I believe), rather than in the orchestra seats. I'd go see the movie in a heartbeat, but probably won't find any takers to go with me, so will most likely see it via Netflix. Thanks for the good review - that helps!
