I'm currently experiencing a situation with my knitting that many knitters refer to as SSS, or Second Sock Syndrome. At my house, we have another type of SSS, a Super Sad Story. Whenever I complain or carry on about something that isn't really such a big deal, Bob will say "That is an SSS!" in a tone that is somewhat mocking. The situation with my knitting is a double SSS. I have a bad case of Second Sock Syndrome which is of no consequence to anyone which makes it a Super Sad Story. I give you state of the union, sock wise...
Despite the fact that I have three finished socks without mates, I've managed to cast on for two more. The second sock from the left has a mate in progress. The others may be single forever.
Something has happened to my sock knitting mojo. Maybe it's finally dawned on me that I live in Big Texas and if I'm lucky there are about 15 days a year where it is appropriate and comfortable to wear wool socks. Maybe I'm just tired of knitting socks. Today I cast on for Mr. Greenjeans at Stitch 'n Bitch and one of the ladies said "I don't think I've ever seen you knit anything but socks." In other non-sock news, I finished my Noro Silk Garden scarf on the way to Baltimore last weekend and I have yet to show it to y'all. I got many compliments on it last weekend and I've discovered that the main difference between Silk Garden and Kureyon (other than price) is that Silk Garden isn't itchy! Hooray for that.
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden in #33 (yellows, oranges and greens) and #88 (reds and browns)
Pattern: Noro Striped Scarf by Jared of Brooklyn Tweed
Needle: US7 Addi-Turbo
Sorry to hear about the SSS... :( Your scarf is Gorgeous!!! That will be the next thing cast on - I had some trouble w/ the clapotis cap...so I cast on the candleflame shawl tonight and it is going quite quickly!! pics on the blog tomorrow!

Don't think of it as a second sock--think of it as a NEW project! You could use the yarn and make a different pattern completely--almost no one would notice in a multicolored yarn--and how COOL would that be? It would keep things exciting; I make my pairs slightly different every time, usually intentionally....

Your scarf is awesome! I'm inspired to start mine. I agree about the Silk Garden. It's one of my faves.
I have the second-sock syndrome too. I joined a sock-a-month kal hoping to cure it. So far, no good. I am, however, trying my hand at 2 socks at a time on 2 circs. I don't have an opinion yet...

Single's not so bad. I may be single forever myself. ;)

Yup, I rarely do projects that require me to knit two of anything. It drives me crazy. I have SSS so bad it's turned into FSS.

The difference between you and me is I need wool socks and I still don't finish them.
It might be too hot for you to wear that lovely scarf, so maybe you should send it north...

Sorry about your SSS. I worried that I would have that problem so I always do two socks at a time on my 2 circulars. I also worried that they would come out different sizes too if I didn't do them together. Hope you sock mojo comes back.the socks that are done are beautiful!

I want you to know that I have spent the better part of two weeks doing nothing but knitting. I learned how over the Christmas bereak. So, now you can visualize me in my hip SAS T shirt, knitting away. When I've produced something worthwhile, I'll send you a picture! Currently, I am working on a scarf with a Danish Flag pattern for my friend. Yay!
