I've missed March and April, so the very general title of "Spring 2010" seems appropriate for this post. I'm still pregnant so I've been tired, sometimes cranky, and often overwhelmed by the basics (work, groceries, clean floors and bathrooms). I like naps and frequently take them. I have a great big pillow that I'm pretty sure I couldn't live without. My feet are large and I no longer mover very fast. I do manage to knit a bit, though it seems like I've been working on the same few projects for a very long time.
I've finished all but the sleeves of a Tea Leaves Cardigan and I hope to have that done soon. I need to go to a LYS and pick up a short circular for the sleeves because I refuse to knit sleeves on DPNs. There's just something about DPNs that I can't like. The Tea Leaves Cardigan is a great, easy sweater pattern and I highly recommend it. Sometime in back in February or March I finished this shawl...
This is Centrique in Brooks Farm Solo Silk and it's really more of a shawlette than a shawl. What is with all of the teeny tiny shawl patterns and why don't they tell you that it's going to make a shawl that is appropriate for a 6-year-old rather than a grown person? Wearing teeny shawls is a giant pain because they tend to fall right off if they're not constantly fiddled with and I don't have the energy for that. Anyhow, I made this with heavier yarn than the pattern called for, but otherwise knit it as instructed, so it really shouldn't be quite so small. I started with 400 yards of yarn and I probably have at least 150 left. The yarn is nice enough, but there were lots of knots in the skein I had. That didn't bother me so much, but I think it would be better if the folks at Brooks Farm just made smaller, knot-free skeins.
I had a baby shower a couple of weeks ago and one of my fellow violists knit this sweater for the baby...
It's a Wonderful Wallaby and I believe she used Knit Picks Shine Sport. It's very cute and I will be adding the pattern to my queue.
I imagine that people want to see just how huge I am (I know I would), so I will indulge y'all with another picture.
This was taken almost two weeks ago (I was very against having this picture taken and as you can see, Bob found that to be hilarious). I can't believe I really look like that. I swear I'm not quite so large in the mirror or in my head, and I think this picture really maximizes the situation (I think it's the shirt). On the other hand, my hair doesn't look nearly this resplendent in real life so maybe I should just go with it. I have about five weeks left (give or take) and I'll do my best to be back again before August. Wish me luck!
