The latest pair of socks fresh off the needles...
Pattern: Dragonfly Socks. This is a great pattern. It's similar to the Monkey Sock pattern, but easier as there are no purls. I knit the pattern more or less as written.
Needles: Two Addi Turbo US 1 (2.5mm) circulars
Yarn: Medium Weight STR in Henpecked. I like these colors, but I'm not wild about the pooling of the reds on the feet. Frankly, I think these socks look like they were shot in the foot and it's not so cute. Most of the time STR will behave when 60-66 stitches are used on US 1-2 needles and with this pair, the leg part looks fine, but the foot is hideous. Oh well. I would love it if just once, STR would knit up in a variegated fashion and the whole sock would look the the toes and heels of this one.
I think I'm about to take a break from my love affair with bright, multi-colored sock yarns. As soon as my US 1 Addis were free, I cast on with my new Dream in Color Smooshy sock yarn (in Dusky Aurora) and I'm finding that I really like knitting with a more solid colored yarn.
This is the BFF Sock Pattern from the famous Cookie A. I was a little confused by the cable increase, but I think I did it right. Now that I'm over my fear and loathing of cables (it's all about cabling without a cable needle), I rather enjoy cables. They look cool too. I'm sure that next November or December, these will be one of my favorite pairs of socks. I may even have to make them again in another color.
